Writing
A more detailed overview of some of my personal writing as well as the narrative proposition I wrote for my admission to NAD-UQAC's DESS program. Each text can be viewed in full in a new window by clicking the PDF button. Everything is written in French.

RP New Year's - 2025
This is the part I wrote for a role-play (RP) event planned and organized by another player. The action happens within the world of an old browser game. The complete lack of any animation as well as the very basic and limited gameplay features call for fully descriptive writing when it comes to character interactions, hence this style of RP.

Participating in an event like this demands a lot of communication between the participants and the organizer. As a participant, I had to send my writing within a set deadline as well as talk with the organizer and understand what type of writing she wanted. In this instance, she needed performers for a New Year's gala, and no more than a page of text.

In order to write the scene, I first chose a music video I wanted my characters to interpret. I then based myself on the video and on my musical knowledge to describe both the stage, the music, and my characters' performances in a way that is hopefully easy to understand and visualize for the readers, with the video included for visual support and to play the actual music.

Narrative Proposition - 2024
As part of the admission process for NAD-UQAC's DESS program, we had to write a 500-word story about friendship based on St-Exupéry's Little Prince.

Before I started writing, I found a copy of the book and read through to make sure the story was fresh in my mind. This also acted as my research, helping me pinpoint the possible themes and angles I could develop in my own writing.

After some thought, I chose to explore my most developed character's childhood and his friendship with his saxophone, paralleling the relationship the Prince had with his rose.

RP Halloween - 2023
This is an event I organized myself with a friend's help for that same old browser game.

This time, as the organizer, it was my job to clearly communicate my vision to my friend and to those who wanted to have their characters participate as guests. I also had to review my friend's part and integrate it into the bigger text. Since we were only two, this task was much easier, but I have organized events before where I had to combine texts from five and more players. I have been organizing the Halloween events on the game since 2018 and have recently started an Art Festival event as well.

This particular Halloween is heavily inspired by Sea of Thieves and Monkey Island. The more unique aspect of the event is the gamification of the role-play, which was achieved by adapting the Monkey Island pirate trials into an in-role-play (IRP) game. To faithfully adapt the trials, I had to make sure I explained the rules clearly and integrated the game to the overarching story. In other words, it all had to make sense within the world since the characters were supposed to be able to experience everything. I ended up with a design akin to real interactive experiences (big inspiration from the power-up bands in Universal parks) mixed with Live Action Role-Play (LARP) elements.
The idea was also to let people decide what their characters would be doing, in which order, and to open up the possibility for personal RP based on the event itself and each character's experience of it.

Bonus: RP New Year's - 2024
Same premise as the 2025 New Year's. This one is a little longer, showing more descriptive setup of the stage and of my characters while also showcasing a bit more of their personalities.
