In-Dev is the project that validated my DESS studies at NAD-UQAC. This experimental 2D puzzle-platformer invites players into a testing facility where things are not as they seem, blurring the line between the game world and the real world. It offers an experience where one must break the well-established gaming conventions in order to move forward, using dialogue boxes as platforms, menu UI to modify the environment, and requiring one to fall into pits to discover secrets buried away by the developers. What is really happening behind the computer screen ?

In the development of this project, I fulfilled multiple roles, but my main responsibility was Narrative Design. I was in charge of shaping and refining the game's story, figuring out its beats, its flow, and its characters. I wrote most of the dialogue for the Narrator and actively participated in other design and gameplay decisions, such as the mechanics, the puzzles, the character interactions, and the general tone and style of the game among other things.
I also programmed and integrated the main menu and pause menu, calling back on my experience using Unity with C#. Since I wrote the dialogues, integrating them in the engine and communicating my technical needs to the lead programmer were an important part of my role. My involvement with Unity also includes regular playtesting which resulted in bug finding and fixing. While I did not directly work with many scripts, I was able to bring impactful modifications within the engine while always keeping in touch with the lead programmer.
Lastly, I took a bit of an organizer role in the team, creating the Discord server we used for communication as well as the Google Drive where we shared documents and game assets. I conducted many team meetings and always made sure everyone was on the same page and aware of upcoming due dates. I was also responsible of communications between the ImagiNAD staff and my team in preparation for the graduate gala.
